Java Runtime Environment

The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) V1.6.0 or greater needs to be installed on your computer.

The JRE is provided with the CD-ROM edition of SuperDrive G2.

To obtain the latest version of the JRE for free, go to http://www.java.com/.

To check if you have the JRE installed or what version you may already have, see below.

Check the JRE Version on your Computer Using Command Prompt

To check if you have the correct JRE type the following command at a command prompt or terminal window.

java -version

If you receive an error message stating 'java' is an unknown command then you need to download the JRE.

If you receive a response to the command that states a Java version number less than 1.6.0, such as version 1.2, 1.3, 1.4.1, 1.4.2, 1.5.0, etc, then you need to download a newer version of the JRE.

There is another option to verify Java software installation.

On the web site http://www.java.com/ there is a link called Verify Installation where you can find instructions to verify the JRE installed on your computer.

At the time of SuperDrive G2 release the link was http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp.

Current JRE Available

At the time of SuperDrive G2 release the current JRE version is 1.6.0_02 (Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 2).
